A Perfect Day

‘A Perfect Day’ follows on in style from the 2024  ‘A Quiet Day’ album with another collection of chilled new age music creations from Ashok Prema.

Once again, it all has a very relaxed vibe, interspersed with gently rhythmic pieces. The titles perfectly reflecting the gentle upbeat mood of the album.

This is a very personal album from Ashok; the tracks are varied and reflect the ‘Perfect Day’ that means so much to the artist.

There are echoes of Tangerine Dream in the sequenced tracks, but the album is all about creating a gentle…and sometimes playful mood, to reflect the title.

It’s worth mentioning again that while we’ve classed the music as New Age, it really does defy categorisation because it’s simply excellent instrumental music with boundaries.

As with many of Ashok’s albums ‘A Perfect Day’ is a very personal album, full of joy and happiness…and so the emotion comes through in a delightful way. Highly recommended.

Well worth the wait, another fantastic album by Ashok Prema. I first heard Ashok Prema in 1997 on the album, “Is There Anybody Out There? The Best Of British Synthesiser Music”, a fantastic collection with Ashok’s song Dancing Dust. Well done Mr. Prema.

    Review by Andy Gee:
ASH PREMA – A Perfect Day Whatever happens on this album, the one thing that will happen to you is that you’ll have an overriding air of tranquility, of calm of gorgeous summer skies and the warmth of the days ahead – look, that sounds terribly clicheed, but in this case it’s true. Yet, it’s not a cosmic music album…. Take the opening track for example – at 10 minutes in length, it starts by being awash with synth strings, followed by some exquisite piano work, before the lead role is taken by the sequencer rhythms, but not “Berlin School”, in the sense of power – here we have something altogether more laid back, in keeping with the feel of the piece as a whole, yet strong all the same. As the textures and melodies gather underneath and all around, the track sails off on smooth waters, turning right, turning left, utilising the three key elements that you had at the start, and managing to pull off a track where the rhythms dominate, but the mood is languid, the feel homely and the whole musical landscape, one fo grace and elegance, the next two tracks following in a similar vein and completing the picture. The 6 minute “The Light That Once Was” is altogether more bouncy and choppy, as assorted synth melodies, swirl slowly around a sea of electro-percussive rhythms, and the melody is quite sublime, with plenty of layers from keys, synths and rhythm textures to keep you absorbed for the journey. Apart from a short track called “The Storm” where, purposely as the previous track is aclled “The Calm Before The Storm”, things get altogether more powerful, the rest of the album is a tale of the synth string effects, the rippling piano chords, multi-layered synths and sequencer rhythms of varying pace and strength, all residing in a universe of melodic calm and transfixing tranquility – the ultimate in synth relaxation but hypnotic listening throughout.

I was looking for some well crafted feel-good electronic music, but with depth, to take on holiday. ‘A Perfect Day’ quite literally made my day. I can feel and hear the wider world as the music twists and flows. Very atmospheric. Perfect travel music (and it’ll still get played when I am back home).

Downloads

MP3, Flac and Apple Lossless files are available for download immediately after payment. You will receive an email containing links to download the zip files.

If you have any issues downloading, please contact us and we’ll re-send the download links.

Note to iOS uses

Apple  iOS up to and including iOS 8 won’t download zip files in Safari. The easiest way around this is to download the zip files onto a computer and then open the zip and transfer the tracks into iTunes (just drag the folder onto the iTunes icon in the dock). Then sync the iOS device to iTunes in the normal way.

Alternatively, there are apps in the Apple App store that will open zip files directly on your iOS device (iPhone/iPad).
