ambient space music
Ambient space music is an eclectic sub genre of new age music. It has influences from electronic, world, classical, experimental and ambient music and therefore has many different characteristics. The growing range of synthesisers and sound designers in the 1980s and 1990s led to a new generation of artists expanding and connecting the many instrumental music genres.
Â
The space music trend began in the 1950s through artists like Stockhausen but became more popular during the early 1970 and 1980s through artists like Robert Rich and Steven Halpen. But many popular electronic artists, like Tangerine Dream and Jean Michel Jarre also embraced the style in their compositions. Radio programs like Stephen Hill’s ‘Hearts of Space’ and John Diliberto’s ‘Echoes’ further exposed the contemplative, dream like music style to a wider audience.
Â
The AD Music Shop has many examples of this style of new age music with electronic, ambient and ethereal influences. With music from Klaus Cosmic Hoffman, Acheloo, Iotronica and Callisto and many more in its expanding catalogue.
